Marine Batteries Shipped to Seattle, WA

Seattle is surrounded by water, with Puget Sound to the west and Lake Washington to the east, and its boating season officially opens on the first Saturday in May with the Opening Day parade through the Montlake Cut.
We don’t have a shop in Seattle. Marine Battery Source is an online store, and we ship to Seattle and the rest of Washington. Lithium batteries over $150 ship free by curbside truck freight to the lower 48. Chargers and accessories ship free when your cart reaches $150. Lead-acid and AGM batteries ship free by curbside truck freight too.
The water around Seattle
The Lake Washington Ship Canal connects Lake Washington and Lake Union to Puget Sound through the Hiram M. Chittenden Locks in Ballard. Lake Union is home to floating homes and seaplanes, and Shilshole Bay Marina is on the Sound.
The Sound’s cold water and tides are hard on batteries. Mild, wet winters mean many boats are used year round, and liveaboards are common on Lake Union and at Shilshole. The Locks fill and drain constantly through the summer, with boats lining up to pass between salt water and fresh water.
Battery types and sizes for Seattle
Sailboats
Many sailboat owners around Lake Union stay with AGM or flooded batteries for simplicity and cost. Whichever you choose, keep the house bank and starting battery separate, and replace all batteries in a bank at the same time.
Houseboats and cruisers
For large boats on Puget Sound, house bank capacity is key. Match your bank to your inverter and charger, and replace all batteries in the bank at once.
Twin-engine and offshore boats
Offshore boats depend on their batteries more than any other boat on Puget Sound: radar, sonar, chartplotters, livewells and VHF all draw power while drifting over a ledge. Size your house battery for a full day of electronics with the engines off, and keep it isolated from the cranking batteries with a switch or combiner. A multi-bank onboard charger keeps every battery topped up at the dock.
Fishing near Seattle
Salmon, Dungeness crab and spot prawns draw anglers. Sailboats, trawlers and cruisers fill the marinas.
Seasons and storage
Boats here stay in the water year round, so keep batteries on a smart charger.
The Pacific Northwest has mild, wet weather year round. Many boats stay in the water all year. Keep batteries charged and terminals clean.
Puget Sound and Columbia River boats deal with salt and current. Secure batteries well.

Frequently asked questions
My boat stays in the water all year in Seattle. What should I do about batteries?
Keep the boat on shore power with a smart charger set for your battery chemistry, or use a battery switch to isolate the batteries between trips. Check terminals for corrosion every few months, and test the batteries before the busy season. If you leave the boat unplugged, a lithium battery’s low self-discharge helps it stay ready.
Who schedules the delivery?
The freight carrier calls the delivery phone number you enter at checkout to set up a delivery window. Someone needs to be there to inspect the shipment and sign.
Do chargers and accessories ship free?
Chargers, accessories and lithium batteries of $150 or less ship free when your cart subtotal is $150 or more. Otherwise a flat shipping rate applies, shown at checkout.
Can you ship to my marina?
We can ship to most addresses, but marinas with restricted access or no way to receive freight may cost extra or need special arrangements. A home or business address is usually easiest. Contact us before you order if you want to ship to a marina.
