Dual-purpose
- 12V 172Ah dual-purpose: group 31, 1000 CCA, 40 lb, Bluetooth.
- 12V 300Ah Pro dual-purpose: 8D footprint, IP67, heated.
These can start an engine and run house loads. Check your engine maker’s guidance for lithium starting.
24V, 36V and 48V
- 24V 60Ah Pro: group 27 size, IP67, heated.
- 24V 100Ah: IP67, heated, 120A continuous.
- 24V 230Ah Essential and Elite: 8D, for large systems.
- 36V 50Ah Essential: group 31 size, 35 lb, heated, IP65.
- 36V 100Ah: 75 lb, IP67, heated.
- 48V 100Ah Elite (V2 and V2-T): 8D, for electric propulsion.
A single-case 36V battery replaces three 12V batteries in a trolling bank, removing series jumpers and balance issues.
Chargers
- 12V 15A and 12V 50A lithium chargers
- 24V 15A, 36V 15A and 48V 15A lithium chargers (IP67)
- 12V/36V two-bank onboard charger, for a start or house battery plus a 36V trolling bank
- 4-bank 12V marine charger (10A per bank)
DC-DC chargers
- 12V-to-36V single-bank DC-DC charger
- Dual-output 12V/36V DC-DC charger with two independent banks
These charge lithium banks from the engine’s charging system.
Trays and hardware
EPOCH makes exact-fit trays for specific models, like the tray for the 12V 105Ah and 100Ah Eco, plus 8D brackets and a heavy-duty power distribution block.
Building a matched EPOCH system
Because EPOCH makes batteries, chargers, DC-DC chargers and trays, it’s possible to build a whole system from one brand. A typical bass boat setup might look like this:
- Start and electronics: a 12V 105Ah Essential or the 12V 172Ah dual-purpose, depending on the engine’s cranking needs.
- Trolling motor: a 36V 50Ah or 36V 100Ah in a single case.
- Shore charging: the 12V/36V two-bank onboard charger, which charges both banks with independent outputs.
- Engine charging: the dual-output 12V/36V DC-DC charger to top up both banks on the run.
- Mounting: exact-fit trays for each battery.
A cruiser or sailboat might pair a 12V 300Ah or 460Ah house bank with a separate start battery, a 12V 50A charger and a DC-DC charger from the engine.
Bluetooth monitoring in practice
EPOCH’s Bluetooth models let you check state of charge, voltage, current and temperature from a phone. That matters with lithium, because voltage alone barely changes across most of the charge range. Anglers often check the trolling battery’s state of charge mid-day to decide whether to keep spot-locking or start conserving. If you choose an Eco model without Bluetooth, consider adding a shunt-based battery monitor.
Heating and cold weather
Many EPOCH Essential, Elite and Pro models list internal heating for cold-weather charging. If you fish or store the boat where temperatures drop below freezing, a heated model allows charging without waiting for the battery to warm up. In warm climates, heating is less important, which makes the Eco line or unheated models a reasonable way to save.
Converting a lead-acid boat to EPOCH
Most conversions follow the same steps: measure the existing trays and choose EPOCH models that fit (exact-fit trays help), switch every charger to a LiFePO4 profile or replace it, add a DC-DC charger for alternator charging of the lithium bank, fuse each battery close to the positive terminal and replace corroded cables. A 36V conversion is often the simplest win: three heavy 12V batteries and their jumpers come out, and one 36V battery goes in. Before ordering, confirm the motor maker’s recommended breaker and cable size, since they stay the same regardless of battery chemistry.
Choosing an EPOCH battery
- Trolling motor (36V): 36V 50Ah for moderate use; 36V 100Ah for heavy GPS-anchor use.
- House bank: 12V 300Ah or larger.
- Single-battery boat: 12V 172Ah dual-purpose.
- Budget build: Eco series.
- Cold climate: a heated Essential, Elite or Pro model.
- Electric propulsion: 48V Elite.
EPOCH vs other brands
EPOCH’s breadth is its main advantage. Compared with Battle Born, EPOCH offers more voltages, Bluetooth on most models and longer listed warranties on Essential and Elite; see Battle Born batteries. Compared with Lithium Rhino’s 36V kits, see Lithium Rhino conversion kits. Compared with ECO Battery, see ECO Battery lithium. Dakota Lithium is covered in the Dakota Lithium guide.
