Marine Batteries Shipped to Lake Minnetonka, MN

Lake Minnetonka, just west of Minneapolis, is the Twin Cities’ big boating lake, about 14,500 acres of water spread across dozens of connected bays.
Boaters in Lake Minnetonka order from us online and we ship to them. Every lithium battery over $150 and every lead-acid or AGM battery ships free by curbside freight anywhere in the lower 48 states, and parts and chargers ship free on orders of $150 or more.
Where Lake Minnetonka boaters launch and cruise
Wayzata Bay, Lafayette Bay, Excelsior Bay and Gideon Bay are some of the lake’s bays, and towns like Wayzata and Excelsior have public docks and waterfront restaurants. Big Island, in the middle of the lake, is a popular anchoring spot.
The steamboat Minnehaha, a restored streetcar boat, runs from Excelsior. The lake freezes in winter, so boats are stored and batteries should be charged and maintained. Lake Minnetonka is busy and well policed on summer weekends, and its narrow channels between bays have no-wake zones that make for slow, low-RPM running.
Recommended setups
Watersports boats
Watersports boats around Lake Minnetonka often have audio systems that can drain a battery fast. A 12V lithium house battery gives long runtime without risking your start.
Pontoon boats
Most pontoons on Lake Minnetonka run a single 12V battery for the engine, stereo, lights and maybe a small trolling motor. That works until the music runs through a long afternoon at anchor. A dual-purpose battery, AGM or lithium, handles both cranking and accessory loads better, and a second battery on a switch keeps starting power in reserve.
Bass boats
Freshwater boats around Lake Minnetonka often go years on lead-acid batteries, but when it’s time to replace them, consider a 24V or 36V lithium setup. Measure your battery trays first, and check your trolling motor’s voltage. If you stay with lead-acid, choose deep-cycle batteries for the trolling motor and a true starting or dual-purpose battery for the outboard.
Typical boats around Lake Minnetonka
Muskie, bass, walleye and panfish draw anglers, and wake boats, pontoons and cruisers fill the lake on summer weekends.
Keeping batteries healthy in Minnesota
Wake boats and pontoons need deep-cycle house power for ballast pumps, stereos and lights. Keep the starting battery separate.
Upper Midwest lakes freeze solid in winter, and boats are stored from fall to spring. Charge batteries before storage, and remove them or keep them on a maintainer. For early and late season fishing, heated lithium batteries can be charged in cold weather.
The open-water season is short, so anglers fish hard when they can. Lithium batteries give steady trolling motor power all day and recharge quickly.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need a heated lithium battery for Lake Minnetonka?
Only if you plan to charge in freezing weather. Standard lithium batteries should not be charged below 32°F. Batteries with internal heating, like several EPOCH models and the Dakota Lithium DL+ 135Ah, warm themselves before charging. For normal spring-to-fall use with winter storage, a standard lithium battery is fine.
Can you ship to my marina?
We can ship to most addresses, but marinas with restricted access or no way to receive freight may cost extra or need special arrangements. A home or business address is usually easiest. Contact us before you order if you want to ship to a marina.
Do you have a store or installer in Lake Minnetonka?
No. We ship to Lake Minnetonka from our store. Professional installation is a flat $99 per battery ($249 for a 24V or 36V lithium bank) anywhere from Venice to Gainesville, with no travel charge.
Is lithium shipping really free to Lake Minnetonka?
Yes. Lithium batteries over $150 ship free by curbside truck freight to addresses in the lower 48 states, including Lake Minnetonka.
