Where to find your battery’s part number
Look at the top or side label of your old battery. Marine batteries usually show the brand and model (for example Interstate SRM-27, Trojan 27TMX or Optima D34M) and the BCI group size, such as 24, 27, 31, 4D or 8D. An “M” after the group (27M) is the marine version of the same case size. Dashes, spaces and brand names don’t matter when you search.
How we match
- Exact match: we carry that same battery model.
- Compatible size: a battery we carry with the same voltage and BCI group (case size). Check the use too: cranking (starting), deep cycle (trolling motor, house bank) or dual purpose.
- Lithium upgrade: a 12V lithium battery in the same group size, lighter and longer-lasting. Use a lithium-compatible charger.
Common marine battery sizes
- Group 24: smaller boats, trolling motors and starting.
- Group 27: the most common trolling motor and dual-purpose size.
- Group 31: higher-capacity trolling, house and starting batteries.
- 4D and 8D: large house banks and big inboard engines.
- 6V GC2 and L16: house banks wired in pairs (Trojan T-105, L16).
