Where Kissimmee boaters launch and cruise
Lake Toho and East Lake Toho are the main lakes, with the Kissimmee Chain running south toward Lake Okeechobee.
Lake Toho is one of the most famous trophy bass lakes in the country, with hydrilla, eelgrass and lily pad beds that hold big fish. East Lake Toho is a little deeper and clearer. Further south, the Kissimmee Chain continues through Lake Cypress, Lake Hatchineha and Lake Kissimmee, all linked by canals and river channels. Lakefront Park in downtown Kissimmee has public ramps on Lake Toho, and fish camps line the shore.
What people run and fish for in Kissimmee
Bass fishing is the main draw, with many tournaments. Pontoons and wake boats also use the lakes.
Seasons and storage
Tournament anglers push trolling batteries hard. Lithium keeps power steady.
Many inland boats are trailered and sit between trips. A maintenance charger or a lithium battery helps.
Central Florida’s lakes are fresh water, so corrosion is less of a problem, but summer heat is just as tough on batteries. Keep them charged and stored out of direct sun.
Recommended setups
Bass boats and tournament rigs
Bass boats on Lake Tohopekaliga usually run a 24V or 36V trolling motor and a separate cranking battery, plus electronics that can draw several amps at the console and bow. Lithium trolling batteries hold full voltage until nearly empty, so the motor doesn’t slow down late in the day, and they save a lot of weight in the back of the boat.
Pontoons and party barges
Most pontoons on Lake Tohopekaliga run a single 12V battery for the engine, stereo, lights and maybe a small trolling motor. That works until the music runs through a long afternoon at anchor. A dual-purpose battery, AGM or lithium, handles both cranking and accessory loads better, and a second battery on a switch keeps starting power in reserve.
Ski boats and wake boats
Wake and ski boats on Lake Tohopekaliga run big stereos, ballast pumps and lights. A strong cranking battery plus a separate house battery for the audio system is the best setup.
