The water around Page
Wahweap Marina and Antelope Point Marina, both near Page, are the main launches on the Arizona end of the lake. Wahweap Bay is broad and open, while the side canyons are narrow and twisting. Antelope Canyon, the famous slot canyon, is just outside town, and Rainbow Bridge National Monument is reachable by boat up the lake.
Water levels have changed a lot in recent years, so check the National Park Service’s current launch ramp status for Glen Canyon National Recreation Area before you go. Summer heat is intense, so keep batteries ventilated and charged.
What people run and fish for in Page
Striped bass, smallmouth bass and walleye are the main fish. Houseboats, pontoons, cruisers and ski boats are common, and many visitors rent houseboats for a week on the lake.
Seasons and storage
Lake Powell is remote, with long runs between marinas and few services. A dead battery far up the lake is a serious problem, so carry a healthy cranking battery and keep the house bank separate.
Desert lakes get extremely hot in summer, often well over 100°F. Heat shortens battery life, so keep batteries shaded and ventilated, and consider lithium, which handles heat better than lead-acid.
Desert winters are mild, and many boaters use the lakes year round. Keep batteries charged between trips.
Choosing the right battery
Pontoon boats
Most pontoons on Lake Powell run a single 12V battery for the engine, stereo, lights and maybe a small trolling motor. That works until the music runs through a long afternoon at anchor. A dual-purpose battery, AGM or lithium, handles both cranking and accessory loads better, and a second battery on a switch keeps starting power in reserve.
Center consoles and offshore boats
Center consoles that run offshore from Page usually have one cranking battery per engine plus a house battery for electronics, pumps and lights. For cranking, a Group 27 or 31 AGM with high marine cranking amps is the common choice. A lithium dual-purpose battery like the EPOCH 172Ah can serve as a house battery and an emergency start, and it weighs a fraction of an equivalent AGM.
Bass boats and tournament rigs
Freshwater boats around Page often go years on lead-acid batteries, but when it’s time to replace them, consider a 24V or 36V lithium setup. Measure your battery trays first, and check your trolling motor’s voltage. If you stay with lead-acid, choose deep-cycle batteries for the trolling motor and a true starting or dual-purpose battery for the outboard.

FAQ
What batteries does a houseboat near Page need?
Most houseboats run a starting battery for each engine and a separate house bank for lights, pumps, refrigeration and electronics, often charged by a generator or shore power. Lithium house banks give more usable capacity for the weight and recharge faster, but check that your charger, inverter and alternator support lithium before you switch.
Can you ship to my marina?
We can ship to most addresses, but marinas with restricted access or no way to receive freight may cost extra or need special arrangements. A home or business address is usually easiest. Contact us before you order if you want to ship to a marina.
Do chargers and accessories ship free?
Chargers, accessories and lithium batteries of $150 or less ship free when your cart subtotal is $150 or more. Otherwise a flat shipping rate applies, shown at checkout.
Do you have a store or installer in Page?
No. We ship to Page from our store. Professional installation is a flat $99 per battery ($249 for a 24V or 36V lithium bank) anywhere from Venice to Gainesville, with no travel charge.
